How do I adjust shipping prices for customers who purchase multiple products?
Dropible Shipping Profiles
Once you've added products to your store, you can fine-tune your product listings further by creating a shipping profile.
Shipping profiles allow you to set up your shipping prices in a way that makes the most sense for you.
We have 5 different shipping profiles, which we will highlight below.
Flat Rate / Default
This is the default shipping profile. Shipping charges will be calculated based off of the shipping price set for the product.
For example, if the shipping price is set to $5 for the product. They will be charged $5 for shipping per order of that product. If they purchase 2 of those products from you, they will be charged $10 shipping. This is a flat rate cost per product in any order you receive. We suggest changing this shipping profile, to ensure that customers are charged the correct shipping prices, as it's cheaper to ship multiple items together than the standard flat rate price it costs per item.
Price Based Profile
You can calculate the shipping charge for the entire order you receive with this shipping profile. This overrides the cost of shipping per product.
You can customize your price based profile, by setting up different shipping prices depending on the total price of the order.
You are given the option of a "Minimum Range", a "Maximum Range' and a "Shipping Cost"
The minimum values are set up to be a "Greater than or equal to", the maximum value is a "Less than".
What does that mean?
Let's assume you have a profile set up like below:
Now let's assume you get an order of $50. It will be charged $8.00.
Orders less than $25.00, will be charged $4.00 total shipping
Orders that are exactly $25.00 up to $49.99 will be charged $8.00 total shipping
Orders that are exactly $50.00 up to $99.99 will be charged $12.00 total shipping and so on..
We recommend setting up a final shipping range to cover large orders like shown above.
Calculated By Weight
This shipping profile will allow you to set up your default shipping carrier. The total shipping price for any order you receive will override the shipping charges set on each product.
The shipping cost will be calculated based on the default shipping carrier you select along with the service you normally use (2 Day shipping, Ground shipping, etc.).
You can also add a handling charge per order, or leave it at $0.00 if you don't charge any extra handling fees.
You must provide your default shipping address. This is used to calculate the correct shipping price for the order.
Please Note: You must have all your product weights set appropriately, otherwise your shipping charges will be handled incorrectly. Product Weight is calculated in ounces.
This shipping profile uses the shipping prices set on each product.
The first product in any order is charged full price and any extra items, or item quantities are discounted by the percentage you set in this profile.
For example, if you sell a product with $4.00 shipping price and another product with a $6.00 shipping price in the same order was received.
2 total items in the order.
You have a 50% discount set in this profile.
The first item will be charged $4.00 shipping and the second item will be charged $3.00 shipping, for a total shipping cost of $7.00
This profile is for those of you who have very simple shipping costs. You charge a flat rate shipping price for products you sell, and an additional $x.xx amount of dollars per additional product.
For example, if you charge $4.00 for shipping and you set this profile up for $2.00 charge.
If a customer orders 2 products "X" and one product "Y", they will be charged $4.00 for the first one in shipping fees, and $2.00 each for the other 2 products. Totaling $8.00 in shipping fees for the entire order.
